COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Since day one, community engagement has been a priority for Republic. Gathering community input and hearing neighborhood concerns remains a focal point for us as we move into future phases of the planning and design process for this development. We stand by our commitment to create a project that our future neighbors will feel comfortable with and that addresses many of the concerns raised by the community up to this point. Below is a breakdown of some of our past community engagement meetings:
- February 11 and 20, 2008: Community Workshops
Republic hosted two community workshops at the Trocadero Clubhouse inside Stern Grove to unveil the new design plans for Pacific Park, and get additional community feedback. Representatives from Republic and specialists working on the project were on hand to lead workshop participants through the various design and process aspects of the project and answer questions posed by community members.
Approximately 53 people were in attendance.
- November 1, 2007: Town Hall Meeting with the Neighbors of Arden Wood
Republic participated in a Town Hall meeting on the project and gathered extensive community input and answered questions from those in attendance. Also present at the meeting were Supervisors Sean Elsbernd and Carmen Chu, who were also available to answer questions. The event was moderated by Denise LaPointe, President of the West of Twin Peaks Central Council.
Approximately 150 people were in attendance.
- October 2, 2007: Greater West Portal Neighborhood Association
Republic met with this group to present the proposed project design and answer questions. Republic had met earlier in the year with the Housing and Growth Subcommittee of GWPNA and is prepared to work with them as we go forward. The community engagement process was also discussed at this meeting.
Approximately 50 people in attendance.
- September 24, 2007: West of Twin Peaks Central Council
Republic met with several members of the organization to present the envisioned design for the project and gather feedback from the Council. The official community engagement process for this project was launched at this meeting.
Approximately 50 people were in attendance.
- June 25, 2007: The Grove Condominium residents
A presentation, which included several still renderings of proposed design of the development were introduced to The Grove residents. Several of the photos were customized to show landscaping alternatives Republic would include as part of the Pacific Park development to mask the view of the project from residents currently living in the northern part of The Grove.
Approximately 40 people were in attendance.
- Spring, 2007: Neighbors of Arden Wood (2 meetings)
Republic met with members of this organization twice during the spring to discuss plans for the Pacific Park development. During the second meeting, Republic presented a computer generated “fly through” of the proposed project. The “fly through” consists of taking real photos of the project site and the surrounding areas to show the development from multiple angles. Community input was taken and questions were addressed after the presentations at both meetings.
Approximately 65 people were in attendance.
- Spring, 2007: Greater West Portal Neighborhood Association
Republic had the opportunity to discuss Pacific Park development plans with the GWPNA’s Housing and Growth Subcommittee. Other members of GWPNA were also present to listen to Republic’s plans for the site and to discuss alternative designs.
Approximately 15 people were in attendance.
